The Moonshine Murder & Other Acts of Prohibition is a family friendly, interactive, live action murder mystery theatrical production with music. The show consists of two-act script and guest-interaction improvisation. From house opening to curtain call, the show runs two hours with breaks in the script for cocktail and/or dinner and dessert service. The conclusion of the show has five alternate endings and the audience votes as to “whodunnit”. The success of the show is built on a solid concept and believable storylines. Each audience member feels at ease because they choose their level of participation. Although the show takes place in a fictitious nightclub, the material is suitable for audiences 13 and older.
In 1995, The Moonshine Murder & Other Acts of Prohibition debuted as an interactive murder mystery with music, co-written by Derek Cochran and Erik Hastings in Des Moines, Iowa. What began as a creative collaboration quickly evolved into a lifelong friendship between the two writers. The show’s original production was staged at the iconic Hotel Fort Des Moines, where audiences were delighted by its witty humor, engaging storyline, and immersive audience participation.
Nearly three decades later, the laughter and intrigue are set to return as the creators prepare for a fresh run of performances in the Orlando, Florida area. With pre-production and planning underway for a 2025 revival, The Moonshine Murder promises to bring its signature blend of mystery, music, and comedy to a new generation of fans while celebrating its rich legacy of entertainment.
